Strong Ground Motion Analysis from Kocaeli and Chi-Chi Events

Kocaeli (Turkey), 17 Aug. 1999 : Earthquake Strong Motion Data

Map of Strong Ground Motion regions with Station Acclererations superimposed

Yarmica (YPT - map 32%G) from a GSR-16
longitudinal (E-W) : max accn 235mG, max vel 90.6cm/s, max disp 190cm
(above in postscript)
transverse (N-S) : max accn 328mG, max vel 90.4cm/s, max disp 158cm
(above in postscript)
vertical : max accn 246mG, max vel 32.7cm/s, max disp 44.6cm
(above in postscript)

Izmit (IZT - map 22%G) from a SMA-1 (ignore the linear trends after about 10secs - OK as right under the epicenter,
and all the longperiod motion was at the initial stages - i did this ages ago and did not get around to correcting it)
all 3 components
(in postscript)

Sakarya (Adapazari) (SKR - map 41%G) from a GSR-16
all 3 components, but plot not well centred, so I also put the individualcomponent integrations below (in postscript)
(above in postscript)
longitudinal : not working!
transverse
vertical

Duzce (DZC - map 37%G) from a SMA-1
all 3 components

Gebze (GBZ - map 26%G) from a SMA-1
all 3 components
(in postscript)

Chi-Chi (Taiwan) Earthquake, 20 Sept 99 : Strong Motion Data

These are analysis of the first 2 Strong Motion Records made available after the earthquake. Both are near the epicentre, but away from the main energy from directivity for the event
These records only have their mean removed, and wavetrain starts from 1st P-wave arival.

TCU0078 : all 3 components
(in postscript format)

TCU129 : all 3 components
